of Qualifications
Mr.
Nikolov is a former senior diplomat with over 25 years
experience in the
establishment of diplomatic ties between countries, the preparation for
and implementation of international conferences with Presidential
participation, the negotiation of international loans, and, most
recently, research and reporting on the pace of public administration
reform in the Balkans. As one of the initial members of Macedonia's
diplomatic corps following independence, Mr. Nikolov was intimately
involved in establishing diplomatic posts in major countries, including
the UK; in developing and implementing diplomatic practices; in
establishing relations with foreign ministries; and in initiating,
negotiating, and implementing international agreements. Mr. Nikolov
spent the last four years of his diplomatic career as the Deputy
Permanent Representative of Macedonia to the UN. In this role he was
instrumental in numerous activities related to economic development
planning, in particular addressing the needs of countries in transition
from socialist structures within a framework that had previously
focused on less-developed countries.
Mr.
Nikolov has worked closely with private businesses and investment
efforts in emerging markets, providing advice, research, analysis, and
risk management services, with particular expertise in Southeastern
Europe. He is an experienced and successful negotiator with
senior-level officials and has extensive contacts and respect
throughout the international diplomatic community. An excellent writer,
Mr. Nikolov is well suited to evaluating development programs on a
country or regional level and to advising on public administration
reform efforts. He has extensive experience in Latin America and Asia
in addition to Eastern and Western Europe. He is a native speaker of
the Macedonian language speaks fluent English, Spanish, Serbo-Croatian
and German.
